THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE
The Beckman Collection is named after Charles Beckman, the founder of Red Wing Shoe Co. Beckman "Flatbox" is inspired by 1920-30s Red Wing 6-Inch toe boots with "flatbox" features. “Flatbox” is a terminology that signifies toe of shoe, made without “box-toe”, that is a part of retaining the toe shape. Back in 1920-30s, about a half of 6-Inch boots that Red Wing Shoe Co made, did not have box-toes. In early 1960s, there were many work footwear, especially 6-Inch lace up boots that were made “Flatbox”. The Beckman without “box-toe” is easy to break-in and superb comfort. It turns out significantly charming silhouettes as they aged with wear.
