STYLE NO. 9090: GIRARD BOOTS
New Girard boots style 9090 add to the line of Red Wing Classic Dress Shoes, the Beckman collection, named after the company’s founder Mr Charles Beckman. To construct 9090 Red Wing Shoe Co. 9090 uses our exclusive Black Featherstone dress leather custom tanned at our S.B. Foot Tannery, located in Featherstone Township, Goodhue County, MN. Built on a one piece leather vamp with Singer's PAC stitching machine , style 9090 uses Gro cord soles , a rubber with crushed cord composite with anti-slip function. These Gro cord soles are developed by Lima Cord Sole and Heel Company for Red Wing since 1920s.
THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE
When Red Wing Shoe Co. was established in 1905 in Minnesota, there was no clear difference between dress shoe and work shoes in those days. As such, Red Wing Classic Dress collection shoes based on those old styles shoes are clearly different from current dress shoes. 9090/9091 Girard boots is a type of traditional American 6" boot with Moc-toe design worn since early 20th Century.
MATERIALS
Full finished leathers have a smooth, polished surface that enhances the natural beauty of the leather.
SMOOTH-FINISHED LEATHER
Smooth-finished leathers have a polished surface that enhances the true beauty and quality of the leather. Only the most premium, top-quality hides are used to craft smooth-finished leathers. The result is a beautiful, classic-looking leather used to build more elegant styles, such as the Red Wing Heritage Beckman Collection. The polished look and feel of the smooth-finished leather requires more specialized care and attention to keep it maintained.
