STYLE NO. 9077: MIL-1 CONGRESS BOOTS
The 9077 is a new Mil-1 Congress boots added to our Classic Dress shoes collection. New Mil-1 Congress boots is constructed using Mil-1 shoes last that were earlier used by Red Wing Shoe Company for making formal shoes worn by military officers. It features our exclusive Black Cherry "Featherstone" dress leather custom tanned at our S.B. Foot Tannery, located in Featherstone Township, Goodhue County, MN. It is a light weight and durable leather, a combination that mirrors the name. The Mil-1 Congress boots have Gro Cord Medallion outsoles, having offcut parts of cord's mixed with rubber that prevented slipping.
THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE
The 9077/9078/9079 Mil-1 Congress boots are new additions to our Classic Dress collection. It's a slip-on type boots that features ankle length and elastic goa at both sides, commonly known as Chelsea boots. This type of boots were widely worn between 19th century and beginning of 20th century in United States by American gentlemen such as councilors, congressmed and named "Congress Boots" then.
